Opened in 1939, the Cloister Garden, pictured here in an early photograph, featured a design inspired by an engraving in the 17th century botanical art book Hortus Floridus. In 1965 the room was redesigned as the present-day Broderie Room, or Parterre de Broderie, which translates to "embroidery of earth."
