Phipps Conservatory Announces Summer Flower Show: Jungle Quest and Butterfly Forest
Enjoy a Stunning Safari through the Jungle and Celebrate the Return of Beautiful Butterflies this Summer

Pittsburgh, PA – Starting Sat., May 10, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is presenting Summer Flower Show: Jungle Quest alongside an annual favorite for guests of all ages, Butterfly Forest. Phipps whimsical new flower show invites guests on an unforgettable exploration bursting with carefully crafted topiary animals, beautiful blooms, lush greenery and exciting interactive features. 

Exhibit Features

  • Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by a friendly topiary toucan, the mascot of the show, perching on a photo op wall of pink and orange tropical foliage
  • View a larger-than-life orangutan sitting in Palm Court beneath a lush green jungle canopy   
  • Watch okapi, or forest giraffes, stroll through the Sunken Garden as an African python slithers its way over a log
  • Journey through a swamp-like-setting complete with crocodiles swimming in the Victoria Room Pond
  • Marvel at a jaguar wandering among flora in rich purple, vibrant orange and striking red in the East Room
  • Gaze at topiary elephants spraying water from their trunks amid a stunning scene of flourishing bamboo in the South Conservatory
  • See a flock of flamingos constructed from pink flowering begonias sunbathing in the Serpentine Room

This spectacular show features room after room of carefully crafted topiary animals, beautiful blooms, lush greenery and exciting interactive features. Prepare to be wowed as you explore a stunning safari all summer long!

Opening the same day, Butterfly Forest returns to awe visitors with an up-close look at some of nature's most prized pollinators alongside the blossoming flowers that feed them. Guests are invited to enjoy the majesty of a multitude of butterfly species, see live metamorphoses as butterflies transform and emerge from their chrysalises and delight in the fluttering array of vivid colors, shapes, sizes, patterns and motions.

Summer Flower Show: Jungle Quest was designed by Associate Director of Exhibits Jordyn Melino. The show runs from May 10 – Sept. 21. Butterfly Forest runs from May 10 – Sept. 7.
