Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens Voted Best Botanical Garden in U.S.
2025 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards Contest Awards Phipps Top Honor

Pittsburgh, PA – Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is proud to be named the winner of the 2025 Newsweek Readers' Choice Awards contest for Best Botanical Garden. Nominees for this contest were chosen by a panel of travel experts with the final list determined by Newsweek editors. Readers were able to cast their vote through Thurs., Feb 27.

For the last 130 years, Phipps has excelled in connecting people to the beauty of nature. In recent decades, the Conservatory has evolved into one of the cultural sector’s leading advocates for advancing green-building practices, sustainable gardening, environmental awareness and climate action. All the while, the Conservatory continues to refine its horticultural excellence through permanent collections of orchids, bonsai, desert plants and more, as well as its four new signature flower shows each year.

This national recognition is the latest in a series of high-profile recognitions for Pittsburgh’s glasshouse jewel, including the National Medal for Museum and Library Service from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (2024), the Green Power Leadership Award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (2024), and the Award for Garden Excellence from the American Public Gardens Association (2023).

Phipps is honored to be recognized alongside nine wonderful fellow institutions and chosen by the public as the #1. For a complete list of the 2025 Best Botanical Gardens, visit the Newsweek website.
