Enjoy magnificent, music-inspired displays of chrysanthemums at Phipps' Fall Flower Show!

Starting Sat., Oct. 5, Phipps’ Fall Flower Show: Rhythm and Blooms celebrates an array of musical genres accompanied by countless chrysanthemums in marvelous shapes, sizes and colors. Each room is inspired by a different genre of music, from rock and roll to classical, jazz, hip hop and more! This immersive, multisensory experience invites visitors of all ages to discover the cultural impact of music while admiring the whimsical and captivating chrysanthemum displays that are Phipps' signature! The fall show lasts for just three weeks — through Sun., Oct. 27 — so don’t miss this marvelous celebration of the season!

  • Take a trip to the jazz club in our Palm Court where a piano flowing with water sits in the center bed
  • Listen to your favorite decade of rock and roll while the Victoria Room pond changes color
  • Delight at lively bluegrass in our East Room adorned with hay bales and falling leaves
  • Gaze at soft pink and cream chrysanthemums as classical music fills the Broderie Room
  • Sing-along to upbeat reggae music in the Gallery Room as a 'three little birds' mobile hangs overhead
  • Marvel at showstopping graffiti and neon mums in our hip-hop-themed Serpentine Room

Since 1894, Phipps has been creating chrysanthemum-themed seasonal shows and this year celebrates the 130th! Phipps Fall Flower Show is the longest running in the nation, making it a Pittsburgh tradition that you can't experience anywhere else!

The growth and care of Phipps’ spectacular chrysanthemum displays are advanced and lengthy, requiring a full year of horticultural planning, growing and training expertise to bring these elegant blooms to you each fall.  Don’t miss seeing mums never before available to the public in addition to unique disbud and cascade varieties of vibrant color gradations of pink and purple to yellow and orange.

Opening the same day, Garden Railroad: Movie Magic will transform the South Conservatory into a bustling movie lot! In this miniature world, watch dramatic movie scenes come to life, starring pirates, zombies, the ferocious Phippzilla and more. Among many whimsical, interactive features, you can stand on the Hollywood star and make your debut on the big screen!

Fall Flower Show: Rhythm and Blooms, designed by Phipps Senior Plant Procurement, Recording and Design Associate Laura Schoch, runs for only three weeks — through Sunday, Oct. 27 — so be sure not to miss it! Hours are 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily and until 10 p.m. on Fridays. Admission is $21.95 for adults, $19.95 for seniors and students, and $13.95 for children (2 – 18).
