Preparations were underway as early as April for Phipps’ 13th annual Fall Flower Show, which exhibited more than 5,000 chrysanthemums and included the regional debut of a pure white variety dubbed “Miss Clay Frick” for the Pittsburgh philanthropist and art collector.
