Starting Sat., May 4, dive into the magical underworld of the ocean with whimsical displays of an array of sea creatures, unique plant foliage and fantastic flora. - COMING SOON: Butterfly Forest
Starting Sat., May 4, watch colorful butterflies break free of their chrysalises to soar and glide among beautiful Phipps blooms. One may even land on you! - Tropical Forest Hawai‘i: Aloha ‘Aina
Tropical Forest Hawai‘i: Aloha ‘Aina invites guests to take an exciting, immersive journey through the rich history, nature and culture of the Hawaiian archipelago. - Planets Earth Virtual Exhibit
A dynamic exhibit at the Center for Sustainable Landscapes (and now online) addresses the pressing environmental issues of our time and proposes a new way of thinking about how to solve them.
Mon., April 22:
- Knotweed Paper Making | 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
In this class, you will get hands-on with the texture, natural color, and unpredictability of Japanese Knotweed paper pulp. Make sheets of paper or even create three-dimensional works from knotweed pulp.
Tues., April 23:
- Shinrin Yoku Guided Forest Therapy Walk | 12:30 – 3 p.m.
Join our popular forest therapy walk, where we’ll slow down and connect with the More Than Human World in a deeper, more intimate way. Following a research-based process, we’ll get in touch with our bodies and our place in the living fabric of life. - Pressed Flower Stained Glass | 6 – 8 p.m.
Preserve flora, fauna, and your memories into a cabinet of curiosities that you can cherish in the form of your choosing.
Wed., April 24:
- In-Person Story Time | 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Kids will love visiting Phipps to listen to our storyteller weave tales about gardens, fruits, vegetables, animals and other fun topics. Attend weekly sessions with a special child in your life. - Turning Peels into Meals | 6 – 8 p.m.
Join us in Botany Hall Kitchen for a lesson on reclaiming typical things you throw away when cooking. From broccoli stalks to onion skin and used lemons to apple cores, all food destined for the compost bin can be squeezed a bit more to create another meal before it's thrown for good. - Landscape Design III: Principles of Design | 7 – 9 p.m.
This course will explain design principles which will then be reinforced in class with exercises in both two and three dimensions. You will analyze the use of these design concepts in landscapes through slides, photos, magazines and a field trip.
Thurs., April 25:
- Arbor Day Nature Journaling | 6 – 9 p.m.
Love the trees of Spring? Would you like to get to know them better? This 2 session workshop will give you the chance to study the structure, seasonal changes and a tree’s all important role for a healthy Earth! - Backyard Gardening Series: Organic Garden Care Essentials | 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Learn the essentials of planning and caring for a vegetable garden using organic methods: how to arrange your crops within your space using the square foot gardening method, when and how to plant seeds and seedlings, how to water, how to minimize weeds, and how to manage pests and disease.
