As part of the three-year planning and design process behind our upcoming Tropical Forest exhibit, Adam Haas, Jordyn Melino and Ben Dunigan are traveling to Panama to study first-hand the region’s biodiversity hotspots, natural resources and culture. Follow their adventures!
Researching, planning and curating the Tropical Forest exhibit is an intensive multi-year process involving Phipps staff traveling to different countries to observe and explore the culture firsthand. Currently, our Interpretive Programs Manager Adam Haas, Associate Director of Exhibits Jordyn Melino and Director of Horticulture Ben Dunigan are researching our next Tropical Forest location, Panama!
Their first full day was off to a busy start with a tree canopy crane tour along Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute Scientist Martijin Slot. While over 150 feet in the air, they saw several tree species, flowering lianas and even an iguana basking in the tree tops!
