Last Week in Science Education Programming

By Emma Fraser

Last Week in Science Education Programming is our weekly seasonal segment featuring education programming. This is the place for camp parents to find pictures of their campers in action and see all the fun things we did throughout the week. It’s also a great place for educators to pick up craft, story and lesson ideas for their own early childhood programs!

Last Monday, our 2-3 year old Little Sprouts explored different games to play with recycled materials in Fun with Recycled Crafts, part of our Little Sprouts SEED programs. During this program, campers traced leaves with recycled markers, learned how to sort our trash from recycling in our lunch boxes and how Phipps reuses, reduces and recycles. Campers also set up an obstacle course using cardboard boxes and made “Kick the Can” cans using recycled plastic bottles filled with buttons, felt scraps, and other recycled materials. Join us every Monday for the Little Sprouts SEED Program!

Last Friday, our Little Sprouts explored fruits and their colors in My Wonderful Fruits and Colors. Campers used their senses to observe slices of orange, lemon, and red and green apples, played a harvest game with different colored plastic balls, and identified the flowers from which different fruits grow. Our campers also took home their very own fruit bowl craft using paint and fruit slices.
