Kirsten and Jordan
Weddings Under Glass is a monthly blog series where we highlight the stories of couples who chose to begin their happily ever after in the lush backdrop of Phipps, named one of the best outdoor garden wedding venues by Elle and Harper’s Bazaar.
Kirsten and Jordan met during their senior year at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Oak Grove. After graduating Kirsten was living in Maryland and returned home to attend a Kenny Chesney concert where she ran into Jordan. After reuniting at the concert, sparks flew and they say the rest is history!
On a warm summer evening in North Park Jordan popped the question. They had just picked up their newly adopted puppy and at Jordan's suggestion they all went to the park for a picnic. Since the couple frequented the park, Kirsten was not at all suspicious of a proposal happening. She was completely surprised and Jordan even had a secret photographer ready to capture their special moment.
Kirsten had always thought about getting married at Phipps, Jordan adds that she is, “flower-obsessed”. After touring the Conservatory, they were certain it was the perfect place to celebrate their love. The couple chose the Outdoor Garden for the ceremony and cocktail hour followed by their reception in the Special Events Hall.
The happy couple tied the knot in early September right between summer and fall. They chose blush and gold as their colors, keeping the style classic and elegant. For a creative twist, the couple found an original window from the Phipps greenhouse and had it made into a custom guestbook! They had a wonderful time sharing the historic Pittsburgh institution with their family and friends. Their favorite part of being married at Phipps was being surrounded by natural beauty everywhere they looked.
Kirsten and Jordan honeymooned on the gorgeous Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia. Since the wedding they have been taking care of their golden retriever, Maggie, and enjoying married life. They are planning plenty of travel adventures in the future!
