How to Have a 5-2-1-0 Day During the Winter Season

After the busy winter holiday season winds down and the weather gets colder, it can be difficult for families to stay active, and choose fruits and veggies rather than leftover holiday treats. However, practicing healthy habits together as a family can be fun and the New Year is the perfect time to adopt a new family routine. An easy way for families to be healthy is to make every day a “5-2-1-0 day,” meeting the recommendations of 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables, less than 2 hours of recreational screen time, 1 hour or more of physical activity and 0 sugary drinks and more water — every day! Here are some ideas for ways to help kids, parents, and caregivers have “5-2-1-0 days” during the winter season.
