Directions & Parking

Phipps Conservatory sits in the center of Oakland’s cultural attractions, surrounded by Schenley Park, adjacent to The Carnegie. Ample curbside and covered parking is available.

Parking

Parking is free to Phipps guests in numbered spaces in the center island on Schenley Drive. Metered parking is also available on Schenley Drive in front of the Conservatory, and is free after 6 p.m. Mon.-Sat. and all day on Sundays. Ample covered parking is available at the Carnegie Museums, directly across the Schenley Bridge that connects Schenley Plaza to Phipps and Schenley Park.

Bus Parking

Bus parking is available on north side of Schenley Drive near bridge to Oakland or with special arrangements with Phipps.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens consists of several buildings and grounds adjacent to Schenley Park and very close by the Carnegie Museums in Pittsburgh's East End neighborhood of Oakland.

Access to Schenley Park and Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is via Schenley Drive. Just look for the big Victorian glasshouse, directly across from Flagstaff Hill.

Directions from the North

  1. Take I-279 South to Pittsburgh, toward the Fort Pitt Tunnel.
  2. Follow signs toward Monroeville and I-376 East.
  3. Continue on I-376 East, take the Forbes Ave./Oakland exit (old exit 5, new exit 2-A).
  4. Follow Forbes Avenue.
  5. Turn Right onto Schenley Drive.
  6. Turn Left at the traffic light.
  7. Continue to follow Schenley Drive into Schenley Park.
  8. Phipps is on the Right.

Directions from the South

  1. Take I-279 North toward Pittsburgh, to the Fort Pitt Tunnel.
  2. Follow signs to Monroeville and I-376 East.
  3. Continue on I-376 East, take the Forbes Ave./Oakland exit (old exit 5, new exit 2-A).
  4. Follow Forbes Avenue.
  5. Turn Right onto Schenley Drive.
  6. Turn Left at the traffic light.
  7. Continue to follow Schenley Drive into Schenley Park.
  8. Phipps is on the Right.

Directions from the East/Turnpike

  1. From the PA Turnpike, take the Pittsburgh exit (old exit 6, new exit 57).
  2. Take 376 West to the Oakland exit (exit 73) bearing Right to the stoplight.
  3. Turn Right onto the Boulevard of the Allies.
  4. Go through two stoplights and over the Anderson Bridge.
  5. At the second exit into Schenley Park, turn Right. (This takes you under the Anderson Bridge and over the Panther Hollow Bridge.)
  6. You will begin to see the east side of the Conservatory straight ahead.
  7. At the fork in the road, bear Left into Schenley Park.
  8. Phipps is on the Left.
