Tropical Forest Hawai‘i: Aloha ‘Aina invites guests to take an exciting, immersive journey through the rich history, nature and culture of the Hawaiian archipelago. - Summer Flower Show: Monet in Bloom
In this spectacular new show, our summer displays will give three-dimensional life to Monet's breathtaking scenes of delicate flora and dreamlike design — beloved works that have stood the test of time for 100 years. - Butterfly Forest
Butterfly Forest awes visitors with an up-close look of some of nature's most prized pollinators alongside the blossoming flowers that feed them. - Member Appreciation Month

From the Same Bulb focuses on Sue Abramson's photographic work with the elephant ear (Colocasia esculenta) over the span of 17 years. - Planets Earth Virtual Exhibit
A dynamic exhibit at the Center for Sustainable Landscapes (and now online) addresses the pressing environmental issues of our time and proposes a new way of thinking about how to solve them.
Mon., Aug. 1:
- Member Bring-A-Friend Day | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
We invite members to share the beauty of Phipps with a nonmember free of charge! Each member will recieve free admission for one guest. Just reserve one free member ticket for yourself and bring your friend along.
Wed., Aug. 3:
- In-Person Story Time | 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Kids will love visiting Phipps to listen to our storyteller weave tales about gardens, fruits, vegetables, animals and other fun topics. Attend weekly sessions with a special child in your life! -
Botanical Drawing II | 6 – 9 p.m.
Apply skills gained in Botanical Drawing I to accurately capture various plant forms, details and textures that are unique to the subject.
Thurs., Aug. 4:
- Virtual Biophilia | 6 p.m. (EST), 3 p.m. (PST)
Join us virtually on Thurs., Aug. 4 for Virtual Biophilia: Exploring Urban Wildlife in Chicago and Around the World. - Taste of the Season: August: Hot Honey Corn on the Cob, Peach and Tomato Salad with Marinated Chicken (or Tofu), Roasted Okra | 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Join Chef Emily this summer in tasting the seasons and learning to create dishes from the freshest, and therefore tastiest, ingredients around. Each ingredient list will include recommended local farms and brands. All recipes will include gluten free/vegan alternatives. - Using Your Camera as a Garden Design Tool | 6:30 – 8 p.m.
See your garden through a photographer’s eyes and apply simple formulas that will change the way you view your garden and give you insight on planting and design.

Colored Pencil Florals on Black Paper I - V | 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Discuss colored pencil opacity and explore key techniques for using colored pencil on black and very dark-colored surfaces to keep colors true and luminous.
