Phipps Conservatory Offers Sustainable Landcare Training for Landscaping and Lawn Care Professionals
2025 Training Program Open for Registration Now

Pittsburgh, PAPhipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is pleased to offer its intensive Sustainable Landcare Accreditation Training course for landscape and lawn care professionals and anyone with a dedicated interest in continuing their education in this growing field. Enrollment is now open for the 2025 training, which takes place virtually on select Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 30 – Feb. 27 from 6 – 9 p.m. with a single day of in-person training on Sat., Feb. 1, from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Local landcare experts and regional professionals serve as instructors in this online course. Experienced green industry practitioners pair up with knowledgeable professionals from environmental organizations, such as Tree Pittsburgh, UpStream, Penn State Extension, Allegheny Land Trust and the Rodale Institute to share cutting edge sustainable landcare methods and techniques. The well-balanced faculty provide a depth of knowledge on the topic while sharing regional examples and solutions. The course covers content such as soil ecology; site analysis and design; organic pest, weed and disease control; rainwater management; invasive plants and more. While most of the learning will take place online, there is one full day of in-person experiences including class sessions, a panel discussion and a reception to allow participants an opportunity to meet with other landcare professionals as well as the class instructors.

2025 training is open for enrollment now. Attendees who register on or before Mon., Jan. 6, can register at a reduced cost of $350. After Mon., Jan. 6, the cost is $400. Nonprofit, government and school staff can register for $262.50 on or before Mon., Jan. 6, and $312.50 after. A discount is offered for additional attendees from the same business and partial scholarships are available for nonprofit, government and school staff as well as qualifying individuals.
