Incorporating the WELL Building Standard Across the Conservatory
The WELL Building Standard is a performance-based green building standard focused on the promotion of human health and well-being through building design and operation. There is currently one WELL-certified building on the main Phipps campus (the Center for Sustainable Landscapes); however, the benefits provided by WELL aren’t limited to this one building. The benefits of WELL can be seen across campus and in Mellon Park. Using the standard as a guide, this multi-level resource provides an overview of these benefits for staff.
How to Use This Resource: SKIM, SWIM and DIVE
These benefits are explained on the following pages in increasing levels of detail.
- The SKIM sections provide a brief overview of each of the ten concept areas contained in the standard and how the standard is implemented across each Phipps facility.
- The SWIM sections explain which features of the standard are already in place across campus and which ones we’re looking into or are in the process of exploring.
- The DIVE sections provide greater detail about which features of the standard are already in place, which ones we’re looking into or are in the process of pursuing, and which features are not applicable or practical. Complete feature text is also provided in this section.
On the right hand side of the page, you can navigate to the area of campus you’re interested in as well as the level of detail you’d like to explore.
