Let’s Stay Connected: April 13 — 19
We at Phipps are always thinking of our members, visitors and friends, and during these uncertain times, we want to provide you with nature's beauty and inspiration, just like we would if you were with us in the glasshouse. Phipps will remain closed through at least Thurs., April 30, but in the meantime, we're sharing a virtual treasure trove of materials to help you engage with nature, re-experience the wonder of Phipps shows past, make your own gardening plans and more. We appreciate your support of Phipps and look forward to staying in contact in this way!
Transport Yourself to Phipps with Our New Video for Calm and Relaxation
Phipps presents an hour of photography of our beautiful campus accompanied by field recordings of Western Pennsylvania by sound artist Abby Aresty to help you relax, recharge, stay calm and relieve your stress. Bring a little of Phipps' tranquil atmosphere into your home whenever you need it.
New Adult Education May – August Course Schedule Now Available
New adult education courses are available to view on our site — plus, take a look at our online course offerings throughout the month of April. You can learn to make a raised bed vegetable garden, care for indoor plants, how to get your garden started growing and more!
Virtual Biophilia: Pittsburgh Meeting
Join us Thurs., May 7 for a virtual Biophilia: Pittsburgh meeting with Charlotte Hacker, a noninvasive conservation biologist studying the genetics, diet and high altitude adaptation of the snow leopard in Central Asia. Charlotte will discuss the research strategies she is using to study the elusive snow leopard and her experience in the field.
Share Your Fond Memories of Phipps
Since 1893, Phipps has been a destination for Pittsburghers to celebrate nature in the company of friends and family — and that means a lot of memories have been made in our gardens! To keep the Phipps community connected and growing, we invite you to share your memories of Phipps with us so we may display them for others to enjoy.
Hello From Horticulture
Though most Phipps staff are not currently on-site, a select few horticulture experts are still on-site to take care of our precious plant collection, and we'll share photos of new blooms with you as they happen. Follow us on Facebook for a look at the latest!
Help us Reopen Our Doors at Our Bright, Beautiful Best
While Phipps is closed, we must care for our plants and facilities so that we can continue to be the source of beauty and enrichment we have been to Pittsburgh for over 125 years. If you’re inspired, please show your support today!
