Plan ahead to make your visit to Phipps even more relaxing and memorable. Our staff is always available to answer any pre-visit questions that might arise.
Our average visit takes approximately 90 minutes, but you can easily spend an entire day in the indoor and outdoor display rooms and still have more to see!
Phipps can be very warm during the summer months and some rooms may be cool during the winter. Visitors are encouraged to dress in layers year-round and make use of the lockers in the Welcome Center. Most of the walkways at Phipps are concrete or stone. Some may be uneven and slippery when wet. Comfortable, slip-resistant shoes are recommended for your safety and enjoyment.
Peak & Quiet Times
You'll find fewer visitors between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily. During peak spring and summer months, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the best days to visit.
Phipps Conservatory offers visitors a very different experience—the gardens at night every Friday until 10 PM.
Visitors to Phipps Conservatory can enjoy free Wi-Fi access in the café.
Phipps Conservatory encourages photography and the use of video cameras for personal use only. Please reserve a room for private/commercial photo sessions (includes wedding and engagement photography, family portraits, modeling shoots, media documentation, and images to be used for resale in any form). Certain day/time restrictions apply when renting a space. Please contact the Events Department at 412/622-6915, ext. 6401 to check availability. All other inquiries can be directed to the Marketing Department at 412/441-4442, ext. 3804.
Tripod use: Members may use tripods on designated Sundays between 9:30 a.m.. and 11 a.m. (Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday excluded). Reservations are required four days in advance by contacting the Ticketing Office.
