Love orchids? So does Troy Polamalu. Visit Phipps this week to be entered into a free raffle to win a football signed by the Steelers safety, whose hobbies include growing and caring for orchids at his home.

He’s not alone; since the time of the ancient Greeks and Aztecs, people have revered orchids for their beauty and mystique. At Phipps, rare and colorful orchids are on display in a number of rooms including a large and varied collection in the Orchid and Serpentine Rooms. (No purchase necessary. One chance to win per person. Drawing will be held Sun., Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. in the conservatory’s Welcome Center. Winner will be notified by e-mail, and need not be present at time of drawing.)
