Discover the exciting world of meat-eating plants! Explore the characteristics of the mysterious bogs where these plants live. Learn how and why certain plants survive by eating insects, tadpoles, and even baby fish. Observe different carnivorous plants including sundews, pitcher plants and Venus flytraps. See insect "leftovers" too tough for plants to digest.

Tropical Treasures

Tropical Rainforests have some of the greatest diversity on the planet. During this program, students will review the layers of the rainforest and learn about some of the most interesting plants and animals on Earth. Come discover the gifts that the rainforest provides, from chocolate and mangoes to rubber, chewing gum, and medicines! Visit Phipps’ own Tropical Rainforest exhibit to explore rocky streams and waterfalls, get a bird’s eye view from our canopy walk, and visit a traditional Healer’s Hut!
