Basic Floral Design: An Introduction to Western Geometric Arranging

Crafting a new arrangement each week, students in this course will choose containers, colors, textures, styles and plants, with instructor guidance, to create original designs. While gaining skills for arranging independently, participants will also be better prepared for final presentations.

Giant Fantasy Flowers

Objective: To be able to look at a flower and replicate it in a large size by using other flowers as building materials

This course will demonstrate how to create spectacular giant fantasy flowers by deconstructing several regular-sized ones and then using them as raw material to create one massive bloom, giving students not only a better understanding of mechanics but also of flower anatomy.

The period between the two world wars was an amazing time of industrial production, technological advancement and creative energy, as well as great advances in floral design. This class will take an art history approach to the period and teach the mechanics of appropriate pieces.
