Built in 1893, the Conservatory is the crown jewel from the era of Victorian glasshouses. It holds thousands of exotic plants and flowers housed in 14 rooms and surrounded by lush gardens, sparkling fountains, and shimmering pools.
The Conservatory is home to annual flower shows, engaging exhibits, special lectures, and fun activities and events. While the Conservatory is a historic landmark and the region’s premier horticulture showplace, it has undergone a significant expansion in recent years.
An environmentally-conscious Welcome Center opened in March 2005 and new greenhouses replaced the Depression-era growing rooms ensuring another century of premier horticulture exhibits and collections. The Tropical Forest Conservatory, which opened in December, 2006, is twice as big as the Conservatory’s largest exhibit room, the Palm Court. Come wonder and wander through all our exciting changes! |
